The YG9022 air freighter arrived at Xi'an Xianyang International Airport on June 18, marking the opening of the new cargo flight route from Xi'an, Shaanxi province to Bangkok, Thailand. It is the third international cargo route and also the second of its kind to Southeast Asia opened by the airport in 2019.
Operated by YTO Airlines B737-300F three flights a week, the imports are mainly tropical fruit, seafood, and specialty rubber products from Southeast Asia, while the exports are light industrial products, electronic equipment parts, and express mail.
The route will promote the active trade exchange between China and Thailand, providing an air channel and service platform for economic and trade exchanges between Shaanxi and Southeast Asia.
From January to May this year, Xi'an Xianyang International Airport ranked first among the country's top 10 airports in terms of the growth rate of cargo throughput.
In the second half of the year, the airport is expected to open a number of cargo routes, such as Brussels-Xi'an-Delhi, Chennai-Xi'an-Mumbai, Xi'an-Istanbul, Moscow-Xi'an-Almaty, and Xi'an-Osaka.
